Blog numero tres
Total hours: 20
Hours this month: 14
Hello!
It’s the end of November and we only have our neoplasia/ GI
block left!
The block before this one was the pulmonary and molecular
biology block, during which we went over topics such as treating asthma, antimycobacterials
infections and pneumonia for Medical Pharmacology. On the other hand, we looked
at concepts such as electrophoresis, immunoblotting and DNA sequencing for
Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology.
Besides studies and eating out, I had more time to volunteer
this month. I started off this month by volunteering at Green Charter School,
where they were hosting the 20th anniversary of FirstLine Schools,
an organization that was built to open the first charter school in New Orleans.
I also volunteered at Fete des Fromages, an afternoon festival with wine and
lots of cheese. Plus, with our week off for Thanksgiving, I could volunteer
more regularly with the Second Harvest Food Bank and at the Thanksgiving Lunch
hosted by the New Orleans Police department.
Moving forward, especially for next semester, I will
continue to work with the Second Harvest Food Bank. For one, it’s so far from
the Tulane bubbles, both uptown and downtown, I feel more engaged with the
larger New Orleanian community. And, volunteering at the Food Bank lets me
complete larger number of hours than at most other places.
With that it’s almost a wrap for this semester, one more set
of block exams and a last volunteering session tomorrow afternoon!
Goodbye and I’ll be back next year!
Anushka,
